Harry D. Norton, Jr.
Harry is the senior member of our litigation team. A graduate of Lafayette College (B.A. 1974) and Seton Hall University (J.D. 1977), he is admitted to practice in the state and federal courts of New Jersey and New York and before the Supreme Court of the United States. Following law school, Harry served as Law Secretary to Hon. John L. Ard, J.A.D. and in the Bergen County Prosecutor's Office as Chief of the Trial Section.
In addition to his private practice, Harry serves as a Municipal Court Judge in the Boroughs of Allendale, Upper Saddle River, Ho-Ho-Kus, and the Pascack Joint Municipal Court. He is Special Counsel to the Borough of Ramsey.
Harry has served as an Arbitrator for the American Arbitration Association, the Superior Court of New Jersey, and the United States District Court. He is also recognized as a Rule 1:40 Qualified Mediator and is frequently appointed by the Court to mediate complex commercial disputes. He served as a Trustee for the New Jersey Institute of Local Government Attorneys. He has also served by appointment of the Supreme Court as a Volunteer III Investigator for the Office of Attorney Ethics. He has served on the Faculty of the National Business Institute presenting "Uninsured and Underinsured Motorist Law in New Jersey." He has lectured at both the New Jersey State Bar Association Annual Meeting in Atlantic City and the Mid-Year Meeting in Rome, Italy as a panelist on the program known as “Hot Topics for Civil Litigators.” He is a member of the Bergen and Passaic County Bar Associations and has served as Chair of the District XI Ethics Committee. He is also an active member of the American Bar Association's Automobile Law Committee. Harry is a recipient of the Bergen County Bar Foundation's prestigious Lawyer Achievement Award. He has also been designated as an AV Preeminent Attorney by Martindale Hubbell and has again received the designation of a Super Lawyer in the area of Personal Injury Defense for 2020.
Harry's practice areas include insurance defense, litigation of personal injury protection and reimbursement claims, defense of Title 59 defendants, defense of uninsured and underinsured claims, and investigation and prevention of insurance fraud on behalf of various insurance carriers.
