Brian M. Murphy
Brian graduated from Fordham University Law in 1981. During law school he clerked at Harwood Lloyd in Hackensack, New Jersey, concentrating on insurance defense and commercial litigation. In 1982, he became an associate with Hill, Rivkins, Carey, Loesberg, O’Brien & Mulroy, specializing in international and domestic commercial litigation, insurance subrogation, insurance defense, and insurance coverage. In 1985 he became an associate at Foglia & Altieri, specializing in commercial litigation and insurance defense. In 1987, he became an associate at Melli & Doyne, specializing in insurance defense including both commercial property damage and personal injury claims. In 1989, he opened his offices at Ramsey, New Jersey and Bronx, New York, and later relocated to Montvale, New Jersey and Rockville Centre, New York.
Since 1982, Brian has specialized in litigation, including the representation of first and third party claims in personal injury, contract, legal malpractice, commercial, and insurance coverage disputes. He has tried cases in both New York and New Jersey, and has also litigated cases to a conclusion in both states.
Brian is admitted to practice in the federal courts of the Southern District of New York, Eastern District of New York, Northern District of New York, and the District of New Jersey. He has litigated cases in all of the federal courts listed above. He is a member of the Bergen County Bar Association, New Jersey State Bar Association, New Jersey Defense Association, Defense Research Institute, and Claims and Litigation Management Alliance. He has again been selected as a Super Lawyer for Civil Litigation: Defense for 2019.
